The wife's perspective

In the Indian culture, it is usually the wife who “leaves” her family and joins a new family. This means she is leaving what has been her comfort zone; the place that has offered her security for all her life, up until now. In her new environment, she expects the same level of security and safety and who better to expect it from than from her husband. When the man fails to stand up for her and openly support her, she feels vulnerable and in turn finds it difficult to make her new home her comfort zone.
