The mother's perspective

The mother has had undivided attention from her son all these years and has probably given all her love and attention to him too. In the Indian family system, there is usually a strong bond between the mother and her son. At a conscious level, the mother welcomes the wife into the family as a new member, but at a subconscious level, there may be a fear of losing her position and importance in the family and especially in her son’s life.
