So, what should the man do?

This is the million dollar question. While there is no one foolproof answer, what might help is for the man to step back, relax, and think through certain aspects. The man needs to look at where his wife comes from and what her expectations might be. It might help if he were to put himself in her shoes and wonder what level of support he would expect from his wife, if the tables were turned and if he was the one to leave his family and join his wife’s family as an outsider. Would the man be genuinely happy being a second priority? Would he ever feel safe in his new environment if his wife never stood up for him and made him feel like he was the most important person in her life?
