Adrenaline rush

For some, it is simply the thrill of doing something daring. When you have interacted with a person you find attractive, there is a surge of chemicals (like dopamine) in your brain, which gives you a ‘high’. In the absence of that person, the dopamine and serotonin levels drop, causing a sense of emptiness and returning to the person brings back that surge of excitement.
