Promoting well-being in teens

There are many ways we can promote mental and emotional wellbeing in teenagers. Some of these are easy and some might take time, but they are worth the effort for you and for your child.

• Express unconditional love

• Be interested in their life, their activities, failures and successes

• Appreciate successes, encourage them through their failures

• Encourage them to talk about their feelings to you and don’t respond with judgement

• Take care of your own mental health - your children will observe and learn
